Step 1 - The first contact
Good preparation, even more choice
You can make an appointment for the first fitting session online. We will then contact you. Perhaps you’ve already seen some dresses that appeal to you and can collect some pictures, for example via Pinterest. If we know what you like, we can even borrow extra sample dresses from our suppliers.
Then the chance that your dream dress is among them is even greater! Tip: take plenty of time to find your wedding dress. Fitting between 12 to 8 months before the wedding causes the least stress. You’ll also have plenty of choice and all dresses can still be ordered without extra costs. Don’t have much time left? No worries! You can also choose a floor model or a dress that is available quickly.
Step 2 - Fitting session in our bridal shop
Love at first fit
The time has come: you’re coming to try on dresses with us. Let the magic begin! During the 2.5-hour fitting appointment, you and your party will be warmly welcomed by our stylist. First, you can browse through the 400 wedding dresses on the rack yourself and indicate (with bows) which ones you like best.
Based on these dresses and the pictures you sent in advance, you’ll head into the fitting room with a selection of 4 to 5 dresses. We only have one size hanging for most dresses, but we pin the dress carefully. So you can definitely see how the dress looks on you.

During the fitting, some dresses will be set aside, but we’ll also pick out other dresses based on your reaction. Often 2 or 3 remain that you want to try on again. Sometimes it’s clear quickly which dress it will be, sometimes it’s hard to choose. Above all, be honest and trust your feelings. Are you beaming with happiness in the dress? Then that’s the one… Say yes to the dress! We celebrate with a glass of bubbles and take photos of you and your party to capture this special moment. Finally, you’ll hear from us how the process continues and you’ll get a gift to take home. Mission accomplished!
STEP 3 - YOUR DRESS HAS ARRIVED!
Extra anticipation: the styling appointment
And then the moment is here… After a long wait, your dream dress has arrived! (Delivery time is usually between 4 and 6 months.) We’ll contact you to see if you’d like to schedule an extra appointment for a special styling moment.
You’ll come to the shop for an hour and try on your dress. Bring your own shoes and any accessories, such as a beautiful veil, striking jewelry, hairpins, or a tiara… La Nova also has an extensive collection of accessories we can try. We’ll make the look completely complete during this appointment. Altering the dress happens at the next step.

Step 4 - Alteration session & Final fitting
The moment when everything clicks
Your wedding dress must, of course, fit perfectly and the length must be right. But that’s usually not yet the case with the delivered bridal gown. So we have the dress altered. 6 to 8 weeks before your wedding, you’ll receive a message that you can schedule an appointment.
We work with regular tailors who pin the dress for you and tailor it to your size. They can also make small adjustments, such as adding sleeves or straps to the dress. Finally, it’s ready for the last fitting. If there’s still anything then, it can be resolved immediately (or in consultation at a later time). Let the big day come!
Our tips for finding the one…
- Schedule your appointment on time! Especially if you're bringing several people to the fitting, picking a date can be tricky. And our calendar is quite full, especially on Saturdays and from October through February.
- Come to the fitting well-rested and relaxed, because trying on wedding dresses is intense! So it's better not to plan any other appointments on this day.
- Only bring people to the fitting whom you really want to be there. People who are honest and respect your taste. If there are too many opinions, it can cause confusion and uncertainty. Ultimately, it is and remains your choice.
- Don't just look at how the dress looks on you. Above all, feel it. If you listen to your gut feeling, you'll always make the right choice. When you know, you know…
- Take your time when making your choice. We never push you to say yes to a dress. No pressure.
- Choosing a bridal gown is a special moment, so it should be celebrated! For example, go for a nice meal in the center of Dordrecht after the fitting. There are plenty of lovely spots nearby.
Expertly altered
La Nova works with experienced tailors for the finishing touch. They know exactly what’s needed for the perfect fit of your wedding dress. Usually, Victor (Atelier Victors) alters our dresses. Both the fitting and the alterations then take place in his studio in Rotterdam. Diana (Atelier Roxane) and Riet (Riet, custom clothing) also tailor dresses for us. The fitting appointments with them are at our shop.

How long does a fitting session take?
About 2.5 to 3 hours. You first take your time to see which dresses on the rack you like. Then we discuss your wishes and make a selection. Let the fitting begin! In several fitting rounds, we’ll find out what the right dress is for you. Just say Yes to the dress!
How do I prepare for a fitting appointment?
It’s better not to plan any other appointments on this day, because trying on wedding dresses is intense. Don’t cram the fitting session into a very busy weekend or right after a night shift. Above all, come and fit while well-rested and relaxed. Tip: do your hair nicely in advance, with a curl or beautifully loose. And pay some extra attention to your makeup. When you already like how you look, you’ll also get a better feeling about the dresses.
Who can I bring to a fitting session?
You may bring a maximum of 6 people to the fitting appointment. But a select group of 2 to 3 people is ideal. This way there are fewer opinions and it’s also more special for yourself. In any case, it’s better to leave the ‘obligatory people’ at home. The more fun, kind, and enthusiastic your entourage, the better your experience. You need support, not criticism.
How much does a fitting session cost?
The first fitting appointment is without obligation and free of charge.
How far in advance should I pick out a wedding dress?
It’s best to come and fit with us between 12 and 8 months before your wedding. The delivery time for most dresses is between 4 and 6 months, and after that, the dress still needs to be altered. If you don’t have that much time, we can see what’s possible. The supplier sometimes has dresses in stock or dresses that have already been put into production. Also, in certain cases, the dress can be produced urgently (for an extra fee). Or you can choose a sample model from our shop.
What is the price range of the wedding dresses at La Nova?
A bridal gown with us costs between 1,500 and 4,000 euros. Tailoring is on average between 300 and 400 euros (without extras like sleeves). Occasionally we hold a sample sale at La Nova. Dresses selected by us are then sold with a significant discount. These are usually sample models that can no longer be reordered. Keep an eye on our socials for the dates of the next sample sales, so you’re on time.
Do I need to have a clear style before I come to fit?
It’s nice if you already orient yourself and look at some dresses. On our website or on Pinterest, for example. If we know which styles appeal to you, we can prepare the fitting appointment even better. We sometimes even pick up extra dresses for you from the supplier. Really don’t know what you like yet? We’ll figure it out then too, don’t worry.
Can I have my wedding dress altered at La Nova?
We work with experienced tailors who alter your wedding dress. Usually, that’s Victor from Atelier Victors, who has over forty years of experience in bridal fashion. Diana (Atelier Roxane) and Riet (Riet, custom clothing) also tailor dresses for us. With their craftsmanship, these three experts ensure that your dress is right down to the last detail and fits perfectly on the big day.
What if I'm unsure during the fitting?
About 75% of brides succeed at La Nova in one go. A small portion comes back to us a second time and the remaining brides find their dream dress in another shop. We never push you to say yes to a dress. It can of course happen that the dress isn’t there for you (yet) and you want to look a bit further. That’s no problem at all, the fitting appointment is entirely without obligation. If you did find a dress with us but are unsure after the purchase? Is La Nova suitable for brides looking for something other than standard?
Certainly! At La Nova, we love wedding dresses that are just a bit more special than the standard dresses. In our shop, you’ll find the latest collections from the coolest designers. Do you have a large assortment?
Our building doesn’t look that big from the outside, but it’s very deep. Because of this, we have a very long wall where about 400 exclusive wedding dresses hang on a rack. A wide selection, then. And the dresses are each and every one of top quality.
